The Battle of Homestead Foundation is raising funds to create — The Center for the History and Future of Work. The Center will be a public education space celebrating the history of workers in Pittsburgh and Western Pennsylvania – all workers, past and present – from early industrial labor of miners, millworkers and trades to today’s diverse array of workers in knowledge, service, education, healthcare and other 21st-century occupations. The Center will tell this history by presenting events and programs (exhibits, lectures, films, concerts, classes, public forums, archives) that emphasize the vital role these workers played – and still play – in shaping their communities and ours. 2025 Annual Member Meeting

The Battle of Homestead Foundation’s 2025 Annual Meeting will be held Monday, Jan. 27, 2025 from 7:00-8:30 p.m. online via Zoom. It is free and open to the public, and we invite you to join us to hear a keynote speaker on a current theme of interest followed by short organizational updates. Topic: “Why Government Workers Are a Good Investment of Taxpayer Dollars” Mr. Lewis’ 2018 book The Fifth Risk and a recent Washington Post feature article examined contributions of America’s federal workforce and the current threats to it.  Mr. Lewis will share his thoughts on the important role the nation's 2 million federal employees play in helping government operate and provide vital services across the country every day.   screenshot
